The festival schedule runs non-stop each day of the event, starting with Breakfast Talks at 8:15 a.m. and running solid through through the evenings. The schedule can be found in the Festival Program, which comes together through a year of intensive effort. It is carefully crafted, with one film woven together with the next, and designed so that there is something for everyone playing at any given time. Film submission is by invitation. Award-winning films are sought from around the world, to bring the best of the year in film back to the Big Island.
Films fall into general categories of Ocean Experience, Ocean Environment, and Island Culture, including films which look at how what we do on land impacts the sea. In addition, the program incorporates films that are inspirational in nature or about people setting out to accomplish great deeds, or embark on epic adventures. The Festival Program presents a non-stop and not-to be missed schedule of films, speakers, Breakfast Talks, exhibits and presentations shared across seven exceptional venues, set in one of the most beautiful locations in the world.
The 2018 Festival Program will be available for download from the website around Dec. 20, 2017. For a sense and feel of the festival and festival schedule, please view the 2017 Festival Program.
